The Cincinnati Bengals lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Paycor Stadium for their first preseason game of the 2024 NFL season, thanks to a late drive by Tampa's offense. Cincinnati scored late on a touchdown pass from quarterback Logan Woodside to wide receiver Jermaine Burton, but Tampa running back Ramon Jefferson scored on a 3-yard run to put the Buccaneers ahead 17-14.
The Bengals made it interesting with under a minute remaining in the game, but couldn't get a touchdown to win the game.
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said during the week he expected healthy starters to play in the preseason. Quarterback Joe Burrow and other starters played the first series on offense and defense, but no more in the game. Burrow led a touchdown drive, which he finished with a touchdown pass to wide receiver Tee Higgins.
Cincinnati faces the Chicago Bears next Saturday in Chicago. The teams will have joint practices ahead of the game.
