Course Content Sustainability Expertise and Management Skills
A diverse combination of modules will provide you with cutting-edge knowledge to meet the challenges of climate change, changing consumer behavior, resource scarcity, as well as tightening political, environmental, and climate targets in a business-oriented context. In the compulsory modules, you will first get a global overview of the subject. You step into energy systems and markets, related data analysis and data management, technological innovations, and scientific contexts. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTSWho We Are Looking For
Please check if you fulfill all the admission criteria for the program. Note that we give preference to applicants who completely submit the necessary documents for the verification.
- First degree completed
- A minimum of 10 CP in mathematics and statistics
- At least 1 yearof professional work experience
- TOEFL Internet based minimum of 90 pts. or
- IELTS (Academic) test minimum overall band 6 pts.,
- For German applicants: A certificate attesting English language skills at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This proof is provided, for example, by the submission of a German Abitur certificate, which shows that English has been continuously taught with at least sufficient marks.
Exemptions for the language requirements are only applicable for nationals or first degree holders from the USA, the UK, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and Australia.

The uniqueness of the program lies in its interdisciplinary curriculum that views sustainability through the lenses of three disciplines: technology, analytics, and transformation. This allows students to approach sustainability challenges from multiple perspectives, equipping them with the tools to address complex problems in a holistic manner.
To be eligible to the program, you require a first degree in any field plus basic academic knowledge of 10 ECTS in mathematics and statistics. If you would like to participate in the Analytics Lab in the 2nd semester, we recommend having a passion for numbers but there are no specific programming skills required.
You can expect the labs to be a key part of your learning experience. In the labs, you willwork on real-world sustainability challenges faced by companies, organizations, or communities. You willapply the concepts and frameworks learned in your previouscourses to develop practical solutions that are both innovative and feasible. Our dedicated study management team will guide you on which lab is ideal for you based on your personal preferences.
RWTH Business School is RWTH Aachen University's further education provider in the field of management. All degree programs are offered exclusively for its students and combine excellent, interdisciplinary, academic teaching with practice-oriented insights. Unlike in consecutive degree programs, students at RWTH Business School already bring professional experience with them. This not only creates an educational experience, but also an intensive exchange at eye level and an exciting professional network. This experience is additionally supported by studying in smaller groups with a special closeness to the lecturers.
