There are a total of thirteen legendary fish in RDR2. Each of these fish are larger and rarer than their non-legendary counterparts. Players will have to catch each of these fish to complete the "A Fisher of Fish" quest. To start the quest, people will need to speak with Jeremy Gill.

The NPC is at Gill Landing in the Heartlands, New Hanover. He is in a small hut with a dock on the northeast corner of Flat Iron Lake. After speaking with Gill, gamers can begin preparing for a long fishing journey.
Bait And Preparation
To catch legendary fish, gamers will need to have a special lure for each species. These special lures can be purchased in Lagras. It is crucial that players meet with Gill first, as the new lures are not available until the quest has started. The bait shop is on the lakeshore just to the north of the L in Lagras. All three special lures will cost $18 each. Once the lures have been acquired, people will be able to set out and fish for all thirteen species.
Legendary Fishing Tips
There are a ton of different purportedtechniques to catch legendary fish in RDR2. Most of these tips lack merit and are merely superstitious strategies. The two main things gamers will want to do is cast short and use Eagle Eye.
Short Casting
A lot of people think that casting into deeper water will improve the chances of catching a legendary, but that simply isn't the case. The further the line is cast out, the harder it will be to reel the fish in and secure the catch. Every fish in RDR2 randomly spawns/ has a chance to strike anywhere in the body of water.

Another important advantage of casting short is the number of times the lure will hit the water. In real life, sending the lure one foot into an inch of water is ridiculous. However, on RDR2, it will increase the chance of a legendary fish hitting the line. This is because the line can be cast and reeled in exponentially faster. By casting shorter, players will catch more fish in a fraction of the time it would take by casting normally.
Eagle Eye
Players can use Eagle Eye if they are having trouble getting fish on the line. The ability will make it easier to see fish in the water, which gives people a general area to aim for. A lesser-known tip is to cast the line upstream. Instead of having to reel the line in, the fish will swim past the lure as the river pulls them toward it.
Where To Find All The Legendary Fish (And What Lure To Use)
Gill's map will help gamers get an idea of where all of the fish spawn in RDR2. Players need to make sure they have the right lures at the right locations to have a successful catching session. Gamers should keep in mind that if they are near the legendary fish, it will appear on the map as a fish icon with a crown.

Once gamers have mailed all of their fish to Gill, he will send an invitation. Head to the post office in Valentine to pick it up. Gill will request to meet at Gill's Landing to share his experiences in Italy. He will state that there is a giant Catfish in Rio Bravo, and ask Arthur to accompany him. The cut scene will lead players to the final legendary fish. This time, it is Gill who gets caught, not the fish. As a reward for catching all of the legendary fish, players can acquire Gill's hat, as well as a spinner lure.
Catfished In A Legendary Way
The final legendary fish is not actually a fish, it is Jeremy Gill. It is a play on words because Gill catfished Arthur by taking credit for all of the legendary fish he caught. In reality, there is no other fish in Rio Bravo. It would have been funny to see Gill make another appearance, but that is how Rockstar wanted the story to end.
